Saints and sinners may mean different things depending on where you live and what you like. An internet search will tell you that It is the title of a  television show, a few songs, an album, a book by local author and historian Richard Thomas and of course a way to promote beer, wine and cider producers in the area surrounding Owen Sound.

The local references have come to be because of the reputation of Owen Sound in times gone-by as a raucous and rowdy city, and a major port serving the upper great lakes which boasted drinking establishments such as the "Bucket of Blood" and generally had a reputation of rowdiness.

The counter to this was the temperance movement and the fact that once alcohol prohibition was implemented in Owen Sound it sure lasted a long time, longer than any other city in Canada.
